FORE:Another form of naturalistic religion, fitted for universal acceptance by its appeals to common experience, was the worship of the Sun. These had a more recognisable bearing on their own daily life, and, like the Chthonian religions of old Greece, they included a reference to the immortality of the soul. Moreover, the climate of Europe, especially of western Europe, does not permit the sun to become an object of such excessive adoration as in southern Asia.
