Both of these communications were printed and widely circulated, exciting throughout Europe contempt and derision. Voltaire had still the copy of the king��s private poems. It is certain that she must have rejoiced over the event, and that she richly rewarded the murderers.Neither the king nor the Crown Prince appeared at the supper.
